100% CPU usage with no active processes - Athlon Acer laptop XP SP2

running XP SP2 on Athlon 64 Acer 4500 laptop, CPU goes to 90-100%
activity continuously but task manager process list shows 'idle' is at
90% and no other processes are >0-5%

running other task snooper app 'taskinfo' shows activity due to driver
level 'DPC' (delayed procedure calls)

have googled and this seems to be a common issue with Athlons, but MS
support site doesnt show an obvious note about it.

Running windows xp and periodically the task manager showed cpu usage at 100%
with no processes running. I removed the google toolbar and the mns toolbar
and so far it has fixed the problem. This problem started the middle of July.
