0x7B boot failure from old disc in new PC

Hello All,
A hard disc taken from a failed HP Pavilion was put in a new PC (ASUS M2A-VM
motherboard) and fails to boot with:
0x7B (0xBACC3524, 0xC0000034, 0x00, 0x00)
The disc works as a secondary in another Pavilion, can read, write but not
boot. The recovery console shows windows installed. I tried chkdsk /p /r with
fixmbr and fixboot. Does not fix the problem. I tried saving off the system,
software, security, sam and default files in \config and replacing them with
the repair files. Does not work. The only thing that did work was to use XP
Install -> Repair with a copy of XP Professional CD which required the key
for that disc. That CD is already installed on another computer so I cannot
activate it. How can I get the original XP installation back? The HPRestore
files are still available on the drive but I doubt that will work with a
different motherboard. Thanks.

Yes, however I do not want to transfer the key. I only used it to see if the
new PC would boot up with the old hard disk. I need to get the old
installation of XP that was already loaded on the hard disk working. I have
been trying to get this installation working since yesterday without success
spending hours on their cryptic "repair console".

I tried the phone-in option. They whined about having the same key on two
computers but gave me a key to type in. The only problem was the BSOD that
came right afterward (page fault 0x50). I do not know if this will keep
repeating yet.
