XP and Sony Mavica MVC-CD1000

Microsoft paper Q293168 states that the Sony Mavica MVC-
CD1000 is compatable with Windows XP, but I have not found
it to work at all.

I do understand it is a later model from Sony, but I can't
believe Microsoft would let an expensive device become
obsolete.

Any suggestions on how to make it work. Thanks

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, it didn't work. When the camera is
connect via usb, I get an F: drive labeled cd rom. When I click on it it give
me the error box: F:\is not accessible. Incorrect function.

I've tried kind of configuration I can think of. I can hear the camera
making noise as if it's accessing it, but I can't get to the photos. Please
advise.

I wonder what would happen if you
remove the CD from the camera and
place it in the tray of the CD drive on
your computer. There should be a
depression in your tray that will fit the
small disk.

Then...try the following:

1) Right click your desktop, choose...
New / Folder. This will create a New
Folder on your desktop...this is where
the image files will be copied.

2) Insert the CD in your CD drive. A
dialog box may appear on your screen
that says: What do you want windows
to do? You will have several choices...
Choose...
"Open Folder To View Files" / "OK".

2B) If the dialog box does not appear...
go to the *My Computer* icon on your
desktop and left click it. In the window
that opens you will see all of your drives.
Right click the icon for your CD drive...
(probably (D:)...from the menu...choose
...."Open"...

3) Now you should see a window with
some folders in it. This is the contents of
the CD. Left click the various folders until
you find the image files. When you see
the images pop up...Go to the toolbar at
the top of the window and left click...
....Edit / Select All...
.....once more....
....Edit / Copy...
Now you can close the window.

4) Now...open your New Folder with a
left click and go to...Edit / Paste...this
will copy the selected image files into
your New Folder.

BTW...there's a Mavica forum at the
following link that may be useful to you:

Thanks John. I'm sure that would work if the images where "finalized", but
unfortunately I often take only a few photos at a time and don't want to
finalize them and waste the space on the cd.

Do you know of any way to get XP to recognize that the camera is not a cd
rom drive? When I look at the USB configuration when the camera is plugged
in, it looks okay.

And thanks for the links.

Sony Mavica CD-1000 USB driver

I tried to download the MVCDV160e driver from driversguide, but the page couldn't be found. Instead I downloaded MVCDV17e from the same source, installed it on XP2 - and found that it works perfectly. Simply plugged in the camera and was able to view pics immedeiately.
