Windows XP Home Edition came installed on my Gateway. I was having a lot of problems with windows, so I decided to reinstall it with the cd that came with the system. During setup I get a fatal error that prevents setup from continuing. The error was: The signature for Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade is invalid. The error code is fffffb40. The system cannot find message test for message number 0xfffffb40 in the message file for syssetup.dll. Then it says Fatal Error: Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The setup log files should contain more information.
Then I close the error log file and it tries to setup again. I tried everything but it keeps recycling in this loop and now I can't use the computer at all. Help!!
