Reinstall error

I had to uninstall Win XP Pro and reinstall it because the
desktop taskbar disappeared and I couldn't get it back,
when I did reinstall it I received this error message
during Reinstallation:

The signature for Windows XP Professional Setup is
invalid. The error code is fffffdf0.

The system cannot find message text for message number
0xfffffdf0 in the message file for syssetup.dll.

Fatal Error:

Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a
fatal error. The setup log files should contain more
information.

Fatal Error:
One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup
could not be installed.

What can I do to fix this? THX
