Problem with XP Pro Reinstallation

A

al

Due to problem with missing winsock file not enabling me
to access aol, i tried to reinstall XP pro using the disc
supplied with my dell (xp pro preloaded an purchase). It
got part wat through setup and then failed with the
following message "Fatal Error setup failed to install the
product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The setup logs
should contain more information" also on the log prior to
the fatal error were the following " Warning Setup failed
to remove the product catalog IEEXCEP.CAT setup failed to
remove the product catalog SP1.CAT setup failed to remove
the product catalog wmplayer.cat" and also "Error
Signature for Windows XP Pro upgrade is invalid. The error
code is fffffdda. The system cannot find message text for
message number Oxfffffdda in the message file for
syssetup.dll"
Now each time I close the error log (or switch off the pc)
it reboots trying to continue setup until the fatal error
occurs again. I have tried to F8 but trying to either
start in safe mode or return to last known good
configuration restarts xp pro setup with the same result.
I am stuck in this loop and PC is unusable. If any ideas
please reply to (e-mail address removed). Grateful
for any assistance
