Hi, I'm being swamped with people trying to get me to fix
their computers with the Blaster/Lovsan worm. Some
people decided to take it apon themselves to try to do
reinstall repair on WinXP. Now there is a error that
pops up in the Installing Window phase of setup:

Setuperr.log

Warning
Setup failed to remove the product catalog IEEXCEP.CAT
***
Warning
Setup failed to remove the product catalog SP1.CAT
***
Error
The signiture for Windows XP Home Edition is invalid.
The error code is 426.
The service has not been started.
***
Fatal Error
Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a
fatal error. The setup log files should contain more
information.
***

I can't find info on these errors anywhere. Please
help. I have 5 computers here with the same problem!

Thanks.

Attempting to perform a repair with the virus or worm still
running is not going to work. I would suggest doing the following:

Read and follow the procedures outlined in the following articles:

Last, but not least, consider purchasing and installing a good
internet security package, such as:

Norton Internet Security 2003

-- Includes prevention of annoying web pop-ups
-- Includes Parental Controls
-- All in one, easy-to-install & manage package

I know it doesn't work... I'm saying I'm trying to fix
the problem after someone else has already tried to
reinstall winxp. I'm just wondering if there is a
solution that anyone has found, or if I need to tell the
user to do a fresh install of the OS and reinstall all
their programs.

Thanks in advance.
