Hi All,

Some time ago I had an old version of Windows Messenger, I think 4.7. I use
Windows XP Pro.
A friend of mine asked me if I can use the program to see her on video
camera. When I launched it, it said it needs to download a module from the
internet. I accepted and I've been able to view the video transmission.
The problems appeared next day, when I start getting this error message. I
ignored it for a few days, then it start beeing annoying. From 5 to 5
minutes the message comes up on the screen and I have to click it to close
it.
I tried installing the newest version of Windows Messenger from Microsoft,
and after I installed it, it worked fine. But the next day I got again the
error message. The bloody program doesn't have an uninstaller and I don't
know how can I remove it from startup. I checked in the msconfig and
registry, but it is very well hidden
Does anybody know what can I do in order to get rid of this error? I don't
mind deleting registry keys manually, if that is necessary.
And since yesterday, something weird start happening. If the Windows
Messenger crashes, if I try to launch my camera on Yahoo Messenger, YM
raises an error as well.

When I get the error message from Windows Messenger, here are the details:

AppName: msmsgs.exe
AppVer: 5.0.0.482
ModName: devenum.dll
ModVer: 6.5.1.902
Offset: 00076f6

Apart from this, I have all the Windows Updates current, I have NAV with
definitions up to date, I run Ad-aware on the system, so it has to be
something related to Windows Messenger

Nicolae

Greetings,

You can remove Windows Messenger by follow the steps below:

1st Way:

1) Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs

2) As soon as the "Add/Remove Programs" window appears, click on Add/Remove
Windows Components (at the side).

3) Once the "Windows Components Wizard" window appears, scroll down to the
end and you'll "Windows Messenger" ticked. You just have to untick it and
just press next. You're Done!

It would take a few seconds in uninstalling Windows Messenger, so no need to
worry if your computer hangs.

2nd Way:

If you're in a hurry and don't like following the steps above, just
following these short steps:

1) Start > Run

2) Type in "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove" (Without the quotes)

----

As for the error:

1) Try searching on google -
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=devenum.dll

2) Microsoft support Database -
http://support.microsoft.com/search...ll&QuerySource=gsfxSearch_Query&srchExtraQry=

Thanks and good luck!
