Downloads headers and message bodies just fine. Cannot post replies or new
messages. Had to resort to OE on another machine to post this. Error
message is:

"Windows Mail could not post your message. Subject 'Re: Linux/OSS: doomed to
a lifetime under Windows' thumb', Account: 'Newsgroups@Bellsouth', Server:
'newsgroups.bellsouth.net', Protocol: NNTP, Server Response: '441 Posting
Failed (Rejected by POST filter)', Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:
441, Error Number: 0x800CCCA9"

Works just fine on this Xp machine.

The bellsouth.net newsgroups server needs setting slightly different than
those you get by copying the Outlook Express settings. Start here:

<http://my.att.net/NewsGroup/s/s.dll?spage=cg/news/newsgroup004.htm&only=y&ck>

Click on Newsreader Setup, then Setup Instructions for Microsoft
Internet Explorer Newsreader, then follow the instructions except
substitute Windows Mail for Outlook Express. After the end of the
instructions written for Outlook Express, there are more instructions
for Windows Mail only.

Thanks for the effort, but after making the changes shown on the Bellsouth
site, my results are still the same, I cannot post to Usenet newsgroups.

Posting the same message more than once is more likely to slow down any
help you get, instead of make it faster.

I've found that for the bellsouth.net newsgroups server, it sometimes helps
to apply the settings change to both the HTML Settings and the Plain Text
Settings under News Sending Format so that neither of them uses the MIME
and None combination, even if you don't intend to post news in the HTML
format.

The online instructions give two alternate settings for Windows Mail,
but in the past we have had more success by selecting Uuencode
rather than MIME/None.

I discovered that a message, once written and sent, cannot be re-encoded.
So if it didn't go the first time, it won't go later, no matter how many
settings are changed. Once I changed to the proper encoding, all new
messages were posted as expected. I wound up having to delete the posts
that wouldn't go.

Thanks again to those that responded.
