I have successfully logged on to newsgroups.bellsouth.net. However, when I
try to post, I get the following error message. ...

Windows Mail could not post your message. Subject 'Flash vs. Hard Disk',
Account: 'newsgroups.bellsouth.net', Server: 'newsgroups.bellsouth.net',
Protocol: NNTP, Server Response: '441 Posting Failed (Rejected by POST
filter)', Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 441, Error Number:
0x800CCCA9

How do I fix this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks Steve,

The settings conform to what's in this link you sent me with one exception.
....

Under Mail Sending Format, HTML is selected and that whole area is greyed
out so I can't change it.

I went into Outlook and changed the preference there to Plain Text; but that
didn't seem to help.

Are you trying to post a message with an attachment, to a group that won't
accept them?

Most newsgroups that don't have .binaries. in their names aren't supposed
to accept any attachments, and often don't accept HTML posts, either.

For the bellsouth.net news server, you need to click on Tools, then Options,
then Send. Then do this in the News Sending Format area at the bottom:
Click on HTML settings even if you normally post in plain text. Click on
the triangle, then any choice on the list except None. If you want to be
able to send attachments, and there is no check mark in the box before
Send pictures with messages, click on this box. Click on OK. Click on
Plain Text Settings even if you normally post in HTML. If there is a blue
dot in the circle before MIME, either make a similar change here or click
on the circle before Uuencode. Click on OK, then Apply, then OK again.

If you sometimes want to post in HTML and sometimes in Plain Text,
start a post as usual. Before starting the message, you will sometimes
need to click on Format, then whichever format you want (Rich text (HTML)
or Plain Text.
