.wab missing or corrupt how to restore?

I know this question has been posted, but how do you "restore" the .wab? I
do a search and find the file on my computer. If I hit the Outlook Express -
address icon it gives me a message that the Address Book failed to load.
Outlook Express in incorrectly configured, plase re-install. I know the
"items" in my address book exist, but "where" is the big question.

I was in the middle of sending messages and adding new people to the WAB and
it started blinking a bit crazy so I shut it down - It never came back up.
The errors started happening.

How do I re-install the WAB w/out loosing the names and info from it? Or
will it get lost?

I Only use Outlook, but I undestand that WAB is part of Outlook Express. As
my "contacts" for Outlook are all still there and working find.

It may be that the wab32.dll has become de-registered. Try this:

1. Start Menu | Run ... cmd
2. CD C:\Program Files\Common Files\System
3. regsvr32 wab32.dll
4. Try Address Book: "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\wab.exe"

Existing, and existing but corrupted (as your message states), are two
entirely different states of the information. If the message store is
corrupted you will not likely be able to recover any of the messages. This
is why I back up my message store and address book at least once a week.
