USB 2.0 not active in WinXPsp2

I just built a computer using a chaintech summit 7NJL6 motherboard that has
USB 2.0 ports. I have enabled the 2.0 in the bios and have loaded Win XP Hm
SP2 with all the updates but the USB ports are still listed and acting like
1.1 ports. Any ideas as to what else I need to do. The device I am using in
the USB port is a Kingston 512MB DataTraveler (portable storage device....
"thumb drive type"). Thanks for the help.

PS: I looked at the other posts on USB 2.0 but couldn't find anything that
seemed to help.

When you installed XP, did you also install the motherboard drivers?

I'm pretty sure I installed the MB drivers. I put the CD in and there were
about 5 programs on it that could be installed. I had to reboot after each
install so I guess there is a possiblity that I may have not installed one of
the components. Is there a way of checking if I missed one of the installs
or should I just reinstall everything on the MB CD? Thanks for the help.

No, it sounds like you installed the drivers. There would be no point in
doing it again. The only thing I can guess at is maybe you have the
ports connected wrong? Check your cabling. Other than that, I'm afraid
I must bow out and leave the question to someone else who is more of an
expert with USB hardware issues than I am.

You might want to see if there are any user forums for your motherboard.

When you check Device Manager, does the USB root show?
If so, does it show as 'working'?
If not, reinstall the drivers from the MB CD.
You might also check for a BIOS update. It wouldn't be the first time that
fixed an onboard USB issue.
OTOH, you can get a 5 port PCI>USB2 card cheap...
