Toolbars Gone AWOL

P

Paul Marriott

Hi

Booted-up my Win 98SE as usual, but my IE6 browser
is completely missing all its toolbars! Only the title
bar is showing up top. Everything else looks fine.

Under the title bar is usual thick grey 'spar' which when
moused over displays the up/down cursor, suggesting that
the solution to the problem is simply to click/drag the
spar down to spring the toolbars from their 'hidey-hole'.
But I found the spar can't be pulled down; it can't be
grabbed.

Of course, with no toolbars I couldn't access the Help
files or mess with Options to look for a fix.

I re-booted. No change.

Aha! Must be a corrupt program file, I thought, so I
uninstalled IE6 (automatically reverting to previously-
saved IE5 browser, whose toolbars worked fine).

Thought I'd be able to fix problem by then re-installing
IE6 from ISP's CD-ROM. Installed fine... but toolbars
STILL missing!

Which all now makes me think that there's a corruption in
the operating system, maybe, not IE6.

Any ideas guys?

Cheers

Paul

Paul, Download IE Addressbar fix from here:

http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/sramesh2k/reg/IEToolbar.reg

Resets Toolbar, Addressbar positions to defaults. Restores hidden/missing
bars
