To remove programs from start up

I have Win Xp running on a 1.4 Ghz, 256Mhz Toshiba
machine. I would like to remove some programs from
loading at start up. These programs are not in the list
when one runs MSconfig.
These programs, like, Oracle, Matlab, etc, loads up only
in some profiles and not under all profiles.

Open the programs and find what you're looking for in their menus. Look
particularly for a menu item called 'preferences' or 'options'.

Run msconfig in the run menu, and check to check marks in the other tabs, not just startup programs. Some programs can be installed as a service. Very sneaky
