"This patch package could not be opened. . . ."

When I try to reinstall Office2K on my Win2K machine, I
get the message "This patch package could not be opened.
Verify that the patch package exists and that you can
access it, or contact the application vendor to verify
that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

I've been all over Microsoft's web site, and I've done
everything suggested in the following articles:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-
US;236597
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;324906

I've also downloaded the Win Installer v2.0
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
FamilyID=4b6140f9-2d36-4977-8fa1-
6f8a0f5dca8f&DisplayLang=en) and the Win Installer Cleanup
Utility
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
FamilyID=5fed58f0-8b41-4928-8939-
328452843bce&DisplayLang=en) all of which have done
nothing.

Does anyone know of anything else I could do?

As a follow-up to my last post, I would like to add that I
downgraded the Win Installer from 2.0 to 1.0 according to
the removemsi.zip file that is often refered to in this
group. (I installed Win Installer 1.0 because that's
what's on my office 2K disk. When I try to install
InstMsi.exe to install v 1.1, it asks for the SP4 CD,
which I don't have because my Win2K CD is SP1, although I
have SP4 installed.) I then ran msicuu.exe, which did
nothing. I still get the same message saying that the
patch package could not be opened when I try to reinstall
Office 2K.

I've also tried running the MSIZAP utility, but I'm having
trouble getting it to work. It always says that it can't
find the software I'm refering to. What is the Product ID
Number it's talking about? Maybe I'm putting in the wrong
value.

Thank you
