temp file message of errors

out of the blue, while trying to setup a game for my son, a Windows error
message came out...

" _is5.tmp suffered an error and has to close..."

and this goes on and on, changing the temp file id only slightly.....but
what gives? I cleaned out all temp files and even ran %temp% without
success....anyone have an idea? Its as if the temp folders are all corrupted
or somehting to that effect

thanks

Each profile has its own temp directory in the <drive>\Documents and
Settings\<user>\Local Settings directory.

Each time you run the set-up a new *.tmp file is create, if the previous
failed install still exists, the name is changed, then the new *.tmp file
suffers the same error.

Are you running the set-up as an administrator and have you tried the game
publishers website for known issues.

Does Event Viewer report anything more specific.

If you are worried about directory corruption, open a command prompt and
type chkdsk /f, answer y to the question, then reboot.(though that doesn't
sound like the problem to me).
