System Restore doesn't retain Restore Points

J

Jim Cladingboel

This has been happening for a few days now. Yesterday I again found that
all my restore points had disappeared so I uninstated S/R and rebooted:
reinstated S/R and rebooted, finding a restore point made at that time.
However, that restore point has disappeared today, repeating the problem.
Automatic points weren't being made, and those I insert myself just
disappear with minutes of being made.
Does it matter that I'm using Classic mode, which alters the way I access
S/R, i.e. Crtl Panel/System/System Properties/S/R ?
All help greatly appreciated,

Jim.

Thanks for your prompt response. The MS site was unhelpful, but using the
'eventvwr.msc' from BertK's site and selecting System/Source, I discovered
that several times a day, every day for the past few weeks, I have been
incurring Errors - Service Control Manager - Event 7000.
Additionally, the last few days also show Errors - sr - Event 1.
What is wrong and what do I need to do to put things right?

The only change I have made to S/R recently, was to set it not to monitor my
external HDD. All other Drives are still set at 12% for S/R's use.

Jim
