Symantec Live-Update

W

worried

I have reinstalled current Live-Update more then 3 times.
It still will not work and show me this error.

LU1803:LiveUpdate failed while getting your updates.
Your Symantec programs were not updated.
You should try getting updates at a later time.
If LiveUpdate fails again with this error,
you should re-install LiveUpdate.

I have done that, and have been in contact with Symantec.
My subscription is good till Feb.2005,and I have not been
able to get my Definitions since 9-22-04.
Thanks to some free AVG I'm still clean.
I am on XP Home with SP2

application dataHave had this problem too

Finally cured it by >>completely<< uninstalling all symantec products and
then searcing the hard drive for symantec and deleting everything (All users
- application data for example)

Then search the registry also (type regedit in the run box on start menu)
and delete everything symantec (Take care with the registry you can kill your
pc if you do something wrong!)

Drastic but it worked

Thanks,I will try that next, because someone in
another thread mentioned to disable the security
center,and yea I don't think that's a good idea,
because when I did that,I almost couldn't get
nothing, still not sure how tapping F1 after restating
got me back going....

Everything said above is correct, absolutely true. What you should consider,
however, is what are you using live update for. If only for virus
definitions it's easier to use intelligent updater from the website. It's
safer too.

Good luck.

That is exactly what I did, download the intelligent
updater, and it does not work. From what I read though,
I best uninstall the whole thing,and re-install,
and see how it works. Thanks for your input.
