Start up takes 10 minutes

It's pretty weird. After I reinstalled windows xp, and
downloaded service pack 1, my computer began taking about
10 minutes to start up. On start up, it shows a white
process bar - as it sometimes does. But the computer
usually just shows that bar for a few seconds, now it's
about 10 minutes. I really hope someone can help me solve
this problem.

Just a thought, but try uninstalling SP1 and see if it clears up. If nt post
back, and we will try other options.

Yeah, I thought about that myself. But the problem is
that I can't find an uninstall file. So if you know what
it's called or where it could be, then I'd be a big help
for me.
And thanks for answering in the first place.

Try "Add and Remove Programs" in the Control Panel. Normally during an
install of a SP, the wizard will ask if you want to archieve you existing
files if you want to uninstall the SP in the future.

Yeah. I think the wizard asked about that, but I chose
no, because everything worked fine the last time I
installed service pack 1. And by the way, I can't find
SP1 in 'Add and Remove Programs' either.
So I guess the only option left is to restore windows
from before I downloaded SP1.

That would be your easiest option. Sorry I could not be more help...

Thomas, try a sytem restore to before SP1. A restore point should have
been created.
