Same in the "Installationguide for WinXP SP2" window..

There I can read; Wait until the installationprogram have control
the configuration, ..... Updating files ... bla bla bla.. =)

Installation finishing...

Information:
Process after installation running...

The process here have maybe stop at 40-50%

My computer have been on almost 2days now and nothing happens, the
installation is standing still at the same place!!!!

Ok.. But I dont have any Cd with SP2 on... Do it cost anything to order one
or is that free!??

I did reboot last time I tried to download and install SP "I did have same
problem that time too" .. Then I did get the messege that SP2 didn't install
correctly and that I have to unistall if I want that WinXP run correctly.. So
I did try to unistall SP2 but then the process did stop, and I did wait but
nothing did happen!!! Then I did take my recovery disc and so on, and today I
did try again but the installation of SP2 did stop..

I dont have any real Xp disc I just have an recovery disc... So do that
matters.. I maybe have to buy a real Windows Xp SP2 package,, but the price
is so high!!! :(

Or then I order that SP2 disc if that is free!???

thanks for you answer...

Yes but isn't that what I have done, my automatic update did regognize SP2
for download and then I did start that, but now the installation of SP2 on my
computer have just stopped..

But I see now if I can order that SP2 disc or then I will fix a new version
of my WinXP with SP2 ready inside and everything...

I tired to this computer and I want to delete whole my harddrive, and
install Xp again but I just have a recovery disc so it's not so easy...

but thanks for all answers...

Hello Mike: Regarding SP2, you can order a SP2 CD thru Microsoft, its free
but cost will be for postage about $1.75, your best bet is to uninstall SP2
if you can. and use system restore, then wait for SP2 CD, about 10 days. Of
major importance is being ready for SP2, there is info on Microsofts website
about this. I have a Dell desktop Deminsion 4400 about 3-1/2 years old, I
have SP1, trying to install SP2 caused me much grief, would like to have it
but I needed to reformat my XP Home twice, good luck on your installation.

Mike;
Ordering the SP-2 CD is free and typically it arrives in less than a week.
Or you can download the Network Installation and burn to CD for future use.
Both of the above options are on Step 1 of the link in my previous post.

You probably downloaded and attempted to install the Express Installation in
the past.
While the Express Installation works most of the time, if you are having
troubles, the Network Installation is best.

Go to your favorite place of worship, get down on your knees,
and thank God for saving you from yourself and the pagen gods
of Redmond.

If I had it to do over, I would /never/ have installed that
POS SP2 on top of a clean install of Win XP Pro SP1 on my new
PC last fall. I can see /no/ tangible benefits whatsoever -
certainly "Microsoft security" is a classic oxymoron - just
much more of a memory and resources hog, slower in every
measurable way, and dead slow HD access compared to SP1 on my
older box for both FAT32 and NTFS partitions.

All the elitists and MVPs, save your breath. My system is
/not/ broken. I have since verified my experience with several
other friends who not only have more powerful machines than my
new AMD 3700 with 4 gig, but they're much more experienced
with XP than I'll ever be. Almost identical resource and
performance issues. Except in all 3 cases, they're hosed -
their licences are 2 retail SP2 and one OEM SP2.

If I ever get the intestinal fortitude to do a nuke and
reinstall, Bill the Gates will have to pry SP1 from the cold
fingers of my dead hands before I ever upgrade again.

If you insist, M$ will send you a CD for about $5 shipping. Used
to be 100% free, but they charge a fee now. Guess business was
booming so much it was an easy way to save a half-billion.

Just curious, but what are you hoping to fix, Gilbert? With my
and friends experience, I no longer see any upside - and plenty
of downside - to trying to "fix" an O/S that in reality isn't
broken - SP1. But, I sure as hell wouldn't nuke and reinstall
twice to get a slower system.
