SP2 causes splash screen problems

I've just installed Win XP service pack 2, and now I'm
having problems with my splash screen on startup, i.e. it
doens't show my version of Windows (which is Home
Edition), only "Microsoft Windows XP". Very baffled,
would be grateful for any help.

That is by design Alice, they made them all the same with the SP2 update to
simplify things.

No, you're not having a problem at all. Microsoft changed it, and
there's nothing wrong. Neither XP Home nor Professional now shows
the version on the splash screen.

That is normal. SP2 has removed the distinction between versions of XP
to avoid having to maintain four different code modules just to display
a different Splash
