I tried to send an e-mail with PDF attachment and got the same message,
however, the file was not open nor was Acrobat.

How do I go about sending my attachment?

It should be in the folder named "Documents".
"My Documents" is a stub that is only there for compatibility with some
older Windows programs. Don't use it for anything.

If I understand your question, your default mail program is not selected
properly. Go to: Control Panel > Default Programs > Set Program Access and
Computer Defaults > (select Continue if the permissions window pops up) >
Left double click on Custom > Under Choose a default e-mail program, select
Windows Mail. > Then Ok and close out. From now on when you select Send
to... in an application, Windows Mail should pop up and you can send it to
whomever you want.

Jimmuh! (and all the other posters here!)

U R an angel(S)!

I am sitting in Sweden trying to send contracts to people in the UK and
Korea. I have not been able to atach these as it said... well, see the first
message on this string.

Now I know. Word closed, message gone, documents sent and problem solved!

Thanx!

And the worst thing is that I am in IT (marcoms so U understand, they would
not let me get my hands on code - understand why?).

I can now have a quiet weekend thanx to you all.

From a humble Windows user!

Great thanx!

Wow - that worked for me too. But this is CRAZY - is there a solution that
does not require you to close the document to actually attach it?

I also get that message ("could not be found"). Where do I click to get an
answer?

Windows Mail can't find a file you are trying to attach if that file is
open in another program. Be sure that file is closed.

This has been most helpful. I have been having this issue forever and
thought it was just my computer or something. I have Comcast and have been
sending attachments via the server as opposed to my email program. I closed
the file and it worked perfectly.

I just want to thank everyone that takes the time to answer questions like
this...I was having trouble attaching a word document, read the posts, closed
the file and it was sent!! Thanks all

Gary's solution solved my e-mail attachment problem. After I closed the open
files, I was able to send the e-mail with the attachments

Hi there,

I am trying to send a word file that contains song lyrics to a member of my
band. I am using Vista and Office Home & Student 2007 and each time I try and
attach the file it states that

'Some of the files could not be found, and could not be attached to the
message. Would you like to send the message anyway?'

Could somebody spread some light on this for me please. I am not using
office for a commercial purpose at all

My problme is that I am trying to attach a link to more than one website. I
send a shortcut to my desktop and drag and drop it into the new message as an
attachment. Then I go back and send the short cut to the Recycle Bin and
then empty the Recycle Bin and close it. I go back and click 'Send' on the
message and I get that window stating that some or allof the files cannot be
locatre and might be sent in part or in entirety. Then it has the nerve to
ask if it's 'okay'. '
I am trying to avoid sending mutlitple mesages with a hyperlink. Actually, I
am trying to create a 'shopping list' using an email since I do alot of
purchaseing on line and I don't want to clutter my 'Inbox' with messages
containg hyperlinks and notes. ANd, i sure don't want alot of little Post
Its on my PC desk!
Is it possible to do this? Or am I dreaming?

The answer to the problem for me was to note the location of the attachment file and make sure it was closed before trying to send the email with the attachment.

The solution for me is to make sure the attachment is closed before trying to attach or send.
