"some of the files could not be found"

Are you using Windows Mail to send them? If so, it helps to have all
the other programs that use the attachment files closed before you ask
Windows Mail to attach them.

I found that out by experience,
But perhaps you can help me with this:
When I try to send a file with the email through send to ... The email
window doesn't give a button SEND. This is not specific for Vista because a
friend has the same problem in windowsXP.
This is highly inconvenient.

Many Thanks,

Solved the problem in seconds.

Nice to know we're all learning again with Vista. I've just bought a new
laptop with Vista. Ii have to say I'm a little surprised that I can't do
something as simple as e-mail a document straight from Word!

If I understand your question, your default mail program is not selected
properly. Go to: Control Panel > Default Programs > Set Program Access and
Computer Defaults > (select Continue if the permissions window pops up) >
Left double click on Custom > Under Choose a default e-mail program, select
Windows Mail. > Then Ok and close out. From now on when you select Send
to... in an application, Windows Mail should pop up and you can send it to
whomever you want.

That error message means you have the actual document (or picture) you are
trying to attach and send in an email already open somewhere on your computer
or laptop. You must close the file or it won't send when you try to attach it
as a link in an email. Hope this helps. ~Beverlee~

Hi there,

I am trying to send a word file that contains song lyrics to a member of my
band. I am using Vista and Office Home & Student 2007 and each time I try and
attach the file it states that

'Some of the files could not be found, and could not be attached to the
message. Would you like to send the message anyway?'

Could somebody spread some light on this for me please. I am not using
office for a commercial purpose at all

Are all other programs that access the files closed while you're trying
to attach them and send the message? If not, Windows Mail often
has problems with the attachment.

Windows Mail often has problems attaching files that are still open in some
other program. Try closing any other programs that use those files before
you try to attach and send them.

What program are you using to send the message?

Are you closing all other programs that access the attachment files before

Which email program are you using to send the email? If it's Windows
Mail, that program has problems adding attachments while they are still
open in some other program.

I'm not sure if that version of Microsoft Office even includes the Outlook
email program.

Hi Paul,

I'm not exactly sure about this, but I do know that if you have the document
you're trying to send open at the time, it won't work.... I'm sure you've
already tried this, but thought I'd let you know just incase.

Open files that you had inserted as attachments have to be closed, maybe a
nice pop-up would help "Please close files that you are trying to attach to
this email, I really think that windows vista and office 2007 should solve
this problem. Hmmm
