Software for Visioneer scanner

Hi All,

Is there any "universal" software which could be used
with the scanner Visioneer OneTouch 8700USB on XP
instead of PaperPort Deluxe and Visioneer OneTouch?
What TWAIN could I use with it?

I'd be very grateful for any help.

I want to able to make a scan preview, then change parameters
to get the best result, save it as .pdf or .tif or .jpg file.
I also would like to be able to "connect" buttons I have on the scanner
with some functions like "Scan", "Print", "OCR" (I have software for OCR),
"Send to e-mail" etc.
Simply I'd like to be able to do the same what is possible with the PaperPort
and OneTouch but using another software.
What about the TWAIN? Is there any which could be used regardless
of scanner model?

Irfanview is my favorite but it still relies on the 8700 driver. I have
an 8700 runing on 2K and while One Touch has some problems it works
pretty good when you figure out the quirks.

Are the quirks described anywhere?

The Irfanview works OK.
At the moment the problem is that I don't know how to force OneTouch
to use IrfanView instead of PaperPort for Scan button.

Generally I don't know how to change the list of destination programs
on the left of the OneTouch 3.0 form for each button.
When I click "Options..." for ANY program I get the info:
This destination has no user selectable options.
Would you like to update the Destination list instead?
When I click Yes nothing happens.

You do not use the scan button on the scanner!

Open Irfanview, File > Acquire.
If you have not set the source in Irfanview, you do File >Select TWAIN
source one time.
