Help moving to a new Visioneer Scanner

Greetings!

I am currently running Windows 98SE. I have been using a Visioneer
PaperPort 3000 flatbed scanner with PaperPort Deluxe v 5.3.1 software.
I recently purchased a Visioneer Strobe Xp 200 scanner and it came
with a full version of ScanSoft PaperPort Deluxe 9.

My question is can I install Deluxe 9 software over the Deluxe 5
software, or do I have to uninstall something? I don't want to lose
the documents I have stored or the ability to continue to use the 3000
flatbed scanner.

Any suggestions or help in this will be greatly appreciated. Thank
you in advance for your help.

Did you try to install?

My guess, if you install Deluxe 9 without un-installing 5, you will have
both.
Deluxe 9 may detect 5 and ask if you want to remove it.

Thank you for responding to my question. No, I haven't tried
installing version 9 yet. I wanted to get some opinions before I
goofed it up and ended up with no scanner at all!

I Have used the paperport system from V4 and now upto V8. Everytime
you update the software the newer version unistalls the old version
but not your desktop document file. So all your scanned documents are
safe. However the newer software converts Your documents to the newer
format and is only backward Compatible ie if you don’t like the
new software and want to go back to V5 your documents are in V8 format
and can not be viewed. Your software should be able to give you the
choice of which scanner to choose to load you scanned document into
paperport. Eg you old scanner or new scanner into the new software
