Problem with Visioneer 8100 Scanner

Following a bad sector problem with my HD, the HD had to be replaced but most of
the files were recovered. However, I am now unable to get my Visioneer 8100
scanner to operate (on a USB port). In the Control Panel>System>Device Manager,
the Visioneer 8100 OneTouch shows up under Imaging Devices, but there is a "?"
over the icon. When I highlight and click on "Properties", I get the message
"The NTKERN.VXD device loader(s) for this device could not load the device
driver. (Code 2). To fix this, click Update Driver to update the device driver."

It appears that no matter what CD I insert (Visioneer OneTouch 8100 Scanner,
Paperport Delux 7.0, or Windows 98), the proper file cannot be found. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The failed HD screwed up all of the scanner files. Install new software.

Remove the current install. Reboot. Install a new Visioneer driver.
Reinstall PaperPort, Select TWAIN.

Thanks for your reply! I took your suggestions only to find out, after going
through the re-installation process and still having problems, discovered that
my 8100.exe file was an older version that apparently didn't get salvaged. I
downloaded the latest version from Visioneer's website, and now it performs
perfectly.
