Shut down problems in windows 2000

System will not shut down automaticaly from windows. must
be done by hand. Have tried to shut down in safe mode but
no luck. Still goes to black screen with blinking cursor
in upper left hand corner.

Here is an anser [sic].

I've seen this happen when third party services were installed, such as the
"shared folders" service from NetSoft's NS/Elite package.
