win2k shutdown

This morning when I shut down windows my system went to a
black screen but would not shut off....now I am getting a
blinking cursor in the upper left of screen.

Hi,

I've had the same symptom on my Win2000Pro system for a long time. I just
press the reset button on the box, and it boots up fine. I hope someone
posts an answer to help us have the system reboot automatically, but if
not, I can continue to live with this condition.

Try updating your BIOS. Either that, or a driver is hanging at shutdown.
The usual culprit is the video driver, but it could be any of your device
drivers. Or you could be using the incorrect HAL.

If it worked before, look to see what changed. Installed New Hardware?
Installed New Drivers?
