Sevice Pack 2

I did a system restore on my computer from recovery disks and reinstalled
Service Pack 2 from Windows Updates now my computer won't restart. Every time
I install anything that requires a restart I have to click shutdown instead
of restart because the computer won't start up again its like the moniter is
off but the hard drive is still on. The tech at Future Shop told me that
Microsoft was aware of this and I would have to wait for them to fix it, but
I had SP2 in before the restore and that didn't happen the first I installed
from updates.

The "tech" (using the term loosely) obviously just did not want (or did not
have the requisite skills necessary) to help you.

First - have you verified you have all the latest hardware drivers (chipset
for motherboard, video card, sound card, network card, modem, etc.)
installed FROM THE MANUFACTURER? (Not from Microsoft.)

Second - have you checked that you have all the updates AFTER SP2 installed
and going?

Lastly...
