I recently had to reinstall my computer.
My computer restarted when it was installing service pack 2.
So I went back to update it again and it jumped to service pack 3, and i
didn't think it wsa a big deal.
Well, now my graphics are crappy and my screen resolution is 800x600 .
last time i reinstalled [before sp3 was out] and i installed sp2, my
graphics were good because it picked up my graphics card so it was set to
like 1440x900 [20 inch wide screen].
can anybody help with this problem?
i tried installing SP2 and it said i cant cause the service pack im using
now is newer.

SP3 includes all the previous SP packs.

Your graphics problem has nothing to do with the service packs. Identify
the video card or on board graphics your PC has and then install the proper
driver. Check to see if your PC came with a CD containing drivers.

Like everyone said, this doesn't sound like a problem with the SP3 install.
Find out what type of video card you have, whether is on board or stand
alone, then go to the manufacturer website and download the latest drivers
for it. If there is a problem with the resolution, then check your display
properties and change it from there.

Good Luck

If you check at MS Support, you'll find that before you install SP3, you
must h ave SP1a OR SP2 installed FIRST. People that are saying that
isn't so need to go and read up on the situation. SP2 also cannot be
installed if SP3 install was attempted.

You'll find supporting information to my comments above.

"
To install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), either Windows XP Service
Pack 1a (SP1a) or Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) must already be
installed.

XP Solution Center for SP3 problems: NOTE that there are some programs
that need to be removed and others to be accomodated for SP3 install.
e.g. IE7/8 can no longer go back to 6, etc., and you'll not have OE,
etc. etc..

Info about SP3.

In Microsoft's infinite and usual wisdom, the mention of previous SPs is
only mentioned in the ONE KB; that's stupid IMO and creates a lot of
headaches because people miss it and don't bother to find out what's
necessary to install it.
Read and follow those (and other if you wish) links and you'll have a
better experience.
