Settings and File Transfer Wizard

I have 2, what I believe to be separate problems that I assume are related.

I rebuilt & upgraded 2 win XP computers.

System 1 was a Win XP Pro. The Mirrored array never worked so I bought new
MoBo with promise controller ( have never had any luck with nividia). Any
way. Before I rebuilt I ran file transfer wizard and saved the contents to a
3rd partition on the drive, a CD-R and a HD on the network. I didn't want
to take any chances. I rebuilt, installed OS on mirrored array. I ran
transfer wizard and pointed to the data on partition 3 & got error message
no files identified, I tried the CD-R, and the Network drive. Same message
each time. I looked at the files created by the wizard and they appear to be
image files. What went wrong and can I retrieve the data?

System 2 was a Win XP Home. This was simply a larger faster HD. I ran the
wizard and again saved to a partition on the HD since this HD will be
reformatted and used as backup HD. After the rebuild I run wizard point to
the folder and it says no files found. I looked in the folder and it has dat
files. I would really like to retrieve the data but I can manually
reconstruct most of this. My question is what is going wrong?
