File and Transfer Settings Wizard

I recently had to reformat the OS partition on Windows XP Pro SP3 machine.
Prior to blowing away the partition, I ran the File and Settings Transfer
Wizard to move everything to an external USB hard drive. After reinstall, I
re-run FSTW and it does not recognize any of the files on the external drive.
Any ideas?

Is the machine fully patched at Windows Update now and is SP3 installed?
