services.exe

We have a file server, Windows 2K Adv - SP4, which is primarily used by
Macintosh clients.
The problem <grin> is that peformance degrades over a period of time, maybe
a couple of weeks or so.
Right now it is resolved by rebooting the server. AFter doing a little
investigatin, I have noticed that he pagefile is set incorrcetly and that the
Services.exe process tends to eat up CPU over time. I didn't notice excessive
paging so I am not so concerned about that pagefile, but I am concerned about
the services.exe process.
I recently rebooted the server (last night) and the servicess.exe process
has gone back to normal it seems only taking between 1-3 cpu. Before the
reboot it fluctuated between 35-50 and sometimes spiking higher.
Services.exe???? What could be causing the excessive cpu usage?
I was thinking to upgrade to W2K3? Or just move the data to another W2K ADv
server....
