Saving pictures from the Internet

We have Windows XP, and my husband uses photos from the Internet to get ideas
for his sculptures. We often save photos, and usually by clicking the right
mouse, and calling Save picture as, we can choose between two formats, JPG
and Bitmap. A couple days ago something got wrong, and now it allows only the
Bitmap, even if the original picture was JPG. The Bitmap pictures are bigger,
plus they do not keep the original name of the file, so it takes extra effort
to save them. Always need to give new name to them, and no guarantee that we
do not save the same pictures more than once. How can we restore the previous
options?

You're gonna laugh 'cause it's as simple as this: Open IE and go to Tools >
Internet Explorer > General tab (the first one) > Temporary Internet Files -
Delete Files button > checkmark in 'Delete all offline content'.

While you're there, take a look at how much space is reserved for TIF.
Pretty huge, I'll bet. You don't need all that. If you're on a broadband
connection, about 25MB is all you need, and even that's probably excessive.

Empty IE Temporary Internet Files cache.
And reset the size to 50/60 MB.

"Unable to save images in proper format ".

"JPGs will only save as BMP".
