Problems with Norton Antivirus 2005

Also "Norton Antivirus 2005" has a Tamper file protection, active by default.
In a first moment, with WD, all seemed ok.
Then, I have realized that the loading of Norton at Windows starting had
become too long; in the event log of Norton there was a long list of attempts
of violation file.
Indeed, in WD Software Explorers, all the processes of Norton Antivirus had
the classification "not available".
I have now disabled the Tamper file protection of Norton Antivirus 2005 and
all it seems to regular.
I think that the real time protection of Windows Defender beta 2 are too
invasive: with MSAS beta 1 there were not these problems.

Now that you have your Tamper Protection disabled, what if actual malware were
to shut down your NAV and infect your system?

You should set your Tamper Protection to nothing less than Log Only, and have it
notify you. That way, you at least know when something is messing with your
NAV. Yes, it can get quite annoying at times, but at least you're still
protected.

This has got to be a feature the MS will fix soon, or the program won't make it
very far.

In the "Symentec Resource Protector" -"Alerts" section of the log viewer in
Antivirus 2005 I am getting this:

Event Details:
Time: 2/20/2006 7:25:09 PM
Actor: C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exe (PID=828)
Target: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccLgView.exe (PID=3124)
Action: Unauthorized access
Reaction: Unauthorized access stopped

Always the same "Actor", various "Targets".

This happens 3 or four times an hour in bursts without any scanning by
Defender going on. I have tested Norton Antivirus scanning and email
protection and everything is working. It only appears in the log, there are
no other alerts.

I am experiencing the same phenomenon. In addition, when I run a WD scan I
get multiple entries in the log of "stopped unauthorized access". Does
anyone have any suggestions?

MSMPeng is the real-time protection piece of Windows Defender, if this
helps.

In my case, at windows starting, the icon tray of Norton appears with a red
cross; after few minute all it goes to place and the red cross disappears.
Disabling "Norton Tamper file protection" this does not happen.
