Problem erasing CD-RWs

Matt

I just got some brand new Memorex CD-RWs and for some
reason, I cannot erase them. I had the same problem with
some TDK cds. I have Roxio CD burner, and when I go to
erase the CDs, the option isn't even there. The problem
is not limited to Roxio. Windows built in CD burner wont
let me do it either. I have tryed talking to Dell about
this matter, but they are determined there is something
wrong with the disks, even though they are brand new and
are from Memorex. I am very confused and very
frustrated. Thanks in advance for the help.

If they are brand new, then why are you erasing them? I've never
tried to "erase" a brand-new, empty CDRW. Maybe it's not an option
because there's nothing there to erase?

Normally, people do not erase a blank R RW disc.
but BUT some people like to do it anyway. Why? I do not know why. Some just
do.
Yes, you can can erase a blank R or RW disc how many time they feel like it.

Take NERO for example.
From the menu > Recorder > Erase Rewritable Disc
Select the recorder if there are more than one Recorder.
Choice Quick-erase or Full-erase
Click on "erase".

It's possible that Roxio recognizes that the CD-RWs haven't been written to,
so it refuses to do an erase!

It possible Roxio may not allow to erase an empty disc but since I do not
use it, I just only can assume so. I mainly use NERO to burn CD / DVD
etc....

I too cannot erase cdrw's with Roxio in XP although I could (and still
can) on my old computer using the exact same program and XP. Must be
the new system??
