Possible Browser Hijack

MSAS keeps finding "Possible Browser Hijack Browser
Modifier" every time it runs. It doesn't list a file,
only a website. This is a Search Assistant. I tried
MSAS in safe mode, deleting it from the registry, and
using HijackThis. Any other recommendations?

Did you try running a full system scan using Microsoft AntiSpyware in safe
mode? If that does not work, try this:
www.ccleaner.com
- Restart in *safe mode*, press F8 during reboot

- Run CCcleaner and remove all temporarily junk.

- Run Adaware, fullscan

- Run MSAS, fullscan

- Restart

- Please report back if this works.

Also send in a suspected Spyware report:
1) Submit suspected spyware report in the tools menu of Antispyware
2) Reboot in safe mode and run a deep scan
3) Run antivirus (with current definitions) while you are in safe mode.

Hi

- Any name of this search assistant ?

- Send a suspected spyware report to MS about this, menu
tools within MSAS.

Also try these tools:

CCleaner, www.ccleaner.com, removing all temporarily junk
wich some spyware hides within.

and

Lavasofts Adaware for removing tracking cookies.

Thanks for the tip. I tried it, no success. As far as I
can tell, "Possible Browser Hijack" is the actual name of
the hijacker. I assume this is to confuse the user into
thinking it's not really a threat. It keeps changing my
search assistant to search.search-exe.com.

I would welcome any other ideas anyone has.

"Possible Browser Hijack" is actually a threat name, than the name of a
spyware itself, I think.
Try HijackThis ( http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html ), do a scan
and paste the report it provides to http://www.hijackthis.de , but wihtout
closing the hijackthis application. Than click Analyze button - this will
provide you a list of suspected components in the system - clean them by
selecting in hijackthis window and using Fix checked button.

I hope this will help.

Kind regards
