Browser Hijacker

I have used the new microsoft anti spyware and it keeps
finding and cleaning the same 2 viruses. One is Possible
Browser Hijack Browser Modifier and one is Ibis toolbar
adware. Anybody know how I can keep from getting these
back or if there is something I need to do to get them
gone completely?? Very frustrated and not super computer
savvy.

Hi

Try with a fullscan in *safe mode*, press F8 during reboot.
(Press F8 just before Windows flag screen appears).

Choose fullscan with all options checked.

Also run this tools, CCleaner and Lavasofts Adaware.

Please submit a suspected spyware report to spynet. (tools-

submit suspected spyware report).

Feel free to say what you've got in place and have tried,
and that it didn't work.

Once that has completed, please reboot into safemode and
run a full antivirus and spyware scan to see if that helps.

Hi JW

Its probably Ibis being detected in two area's rather
than two different problems, its difficult to remove if
its installed wintools.

All fixes for this need to be done in safe mode-reboot
and keep tapping F8 and choose safe mode from the list
----------------------------------------------------------


Before going into safe mode copy this to notepad and save
it so you can view it if needed and then download these :


Websearch Remover

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FxWebsch.exe

Download it to your desktop(run the remover by double
clicking it in safe mode)


Download Ccleaner to remove all unused & temp files

Download Ad-Aware SE

Update Adaware while in normal mode and use in safe mode



Go to the add/remove screen and remove any of these if
found :

Search Toolbar
Toolbar
WinTools
WebOffer
Web Search Toolbar
Win-Tools Easy Installer




Reboot Into safe mode :



Run the Symantec Websearch Remover


Run Adaware & MS Antispy on a full system scan and remove
anything found



Open a DOS command prompt window

Goto Start->Then Run->Then Type cmd and enter the
following commands.

Copy & Paste this into the prompt screen,paste the first
line in and press enter then copy and paste the other
lines in pressing enter after each one the second part is
one command from regsvr to .dll" (dont worry if they
cannot be found)


Copy & Paste this in first :


cd "%WinDir%\System"


Then press enter and copy & paste this in :

regsvr32 /u "\Program Files\Common
Files\WinTools\WToolsB.dll"


press enter again then this :

regsvr32 /u "\Program Files\Common
Files\WinTools\btiein.dll"


press enter again and finally paste this one :

regsvr32 /u "\Program Files\Toolbar\toolbar.dll"




Exit the command prompt



In safe mode remove these folders if any exist :


C:\Programfiles\Toolbar
C:\Programfiles\emusic
C:\Programfiles\funwebproducts
C:\Programfiles\common files\wintools\




Run Ccleaner on all 3 settings (windows,applications &
issues) and clear anything found.



Reboot into normal mode and try the scanner again and see
if its still detecting any problems

MAKE SURE THAT YOUR REAL TIME PROTECTION IS SWITCHED ON.

YOU WILL PICK UP THIS CRAP ON SOME SITES BUT THEY WONT DO
ANY HARM. USE A SCHEDULED SCAN AND YOU WONT NOTICE THEM.
