I would like to see QuickSilver stay. There are no other
program on the Pricelessware list that do what QuickSilver
does. It is specifically designed for remailing.

This is true.
Actually, I'd say Quicksilver isn't properly categorized.
As its capabilities as a usenet posting tool for anonnymity
isn't encompassed in in the category.

I disagree. If there are so few people in a.c.f to vote for them as
Pricelessware, they should not be on the PL.

The nominations page will still be available, so these apps will still
be on the pricelessware.org website. Perhaps an empty category for FTP
servers, with an explanation that no FTP servers made the list along
with a link to the nominations/voting page?

There is a good reason to have two newsreaders, one offline and one
online. I'd put the top three on the list, with Gravity/Super
Gravity having only one entry.

converts Favorites to HTML, which I assume to mean both IE favorites and
Mozilla-type bookmarks. My question is this: does it also do straight
URL-to-HTML conversions? If not, just thought I'd point out that Visit
URL (under URL: Clipboard tool) does that very thing. This is not an
argument for Visit URL, but merely a request to clear up what what is
meant by this category. It sounds more like it's for the conversion of
favorites and bookmarks to HTML, not for the conversion of URLs to HTML.
Can anyone clarify this?

link information from an .url file. Skips using property dialog box, or
notepad. Significant: it's really not something you'd use online. To me,
it's just an explorer addon.

Hamster hijacks portions of your data. Once you've entered passwords into
the configs for accounts that you set up, you can't retrieve them. Unless
you keep a second set of data records seperate and apart from Hamster,
you're screwed.

Also, was there some reason TYPSoft wasn't included as an FTP server or
Hermes included as an email server?

I might not have answered directly enough a minute ago...

Bookmark Wizard does only one thing. Processes your favorites folder,
and makes it into a customized html file. As to your .url files, your
only option is to choose to ignore some folders in that set directory.
Btw, Bookmark Wizard won't go anywhere else on your drive; it restricts
to the location of your favorites folder.

None of the above is criticism. We appreciate straightforward, direct-
purpose tools. But the issue is that it's area of functionality is
very tiny, making it odd for it to cancel out, by one vote, another
tool which is multiplex by compare.

I think *some* sort of page is necessary: if the category was just
omitted entirely, I'd think "hang on: are there no usable freeware FTP
servers out there?" Your's is certainly a legitimate way of handling
it.

Personally, though, if I was looking for a recommendation and was
presented with that sort of page, I think I'd assume that no FTP server
was *good* enough to have made the list -- not that "there wasn't
enough interest in this category".
