Photo Attachments not Opening

This afternoon while trying to open pictures attached to multiple emails from
different senders I'm only able to open one picture per email. When I try to
open the second Outlook shuts down, then reopens with a message saying that
it did not shut down correctly the last time. Size of attachment doesn't
seem to matter. Multiple text attachments do not seem to affected. Was
working fine yesterday virus scans come up blank and system scan say
everything is working fine???

Hi Dave ...

I just posted a similar question about an hour ago - I'm having the same
problem. See my post of earlier this evening titled "2nd attachment file
won't open". This looks very suspicious that we are both having this problem
at about the same time. If I receive any clues or help on this, I'll pass it
along to you. Could you please do the same?

"Outlook"? The newsgroup to which you posted is dedicated to support
for the Windows Mail program. The Outlook experts tend to hang out in
the Outlook newsgroup:

I'm having the exact same problem. I have Windows Mail on Vista running on a
Dell XPS laptop. It was working fine until about 2-3 weeks ago - about the
time you posted your message. I've Googled the issue and find that it's
common enough, but I haven't found a solution in any o the pieces I've read.
Have you had any luck so far? My system automatically installs Microsoft
updates as they become available so I don't know if this is the result of
some update. Also, in my case, the issue affects all attachments, not just
photos. The first one opens fine, and then the next one causes Windows Mail
to shut down and restart wit the message that you quoted. It's very annoying!

Are you running a Norton antivirus or Internet security program?
Norton has been implicated in this problem. Try updating it.
If no improvement, do a trial uninstall of Norton, followed by using their
debris removal tool:
