Hey Steve,
Have done all that, have tried everything that has been suggested or that I
know. It has only been happening for the past 4 days, when I try to download
anything off internet explorer the same thing happens, if I click run it
looks like its downloading will finish but whatever I download is not there,
if I click save, then it just shuts down and restarts, it's driving me
insane. I am using avvast as my protection but I was using AVG, that kept
trying to restart my whole computer, after saying it needed to update and
restart, but was doing it continually, so I tried uninstalling it, even
downloading an AVG uninstaller didn't work so I went to the forums there and
got advice, from what I gather it is now gone from my system. I would really
like some advice to fix this as I'm sure it had something to do with an
automatic update, maybe something to do with windows defender
updates...please can anyone help???
Cheers mirkanna

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully compatible
with Windows Mail.

I suggest you temporarily uninstall your antivirus, then download and
install Windows Live Mail.

There is a very good chance are that you are seeing the affects of a
hijackware infection.

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

2. Run this online scan (in safe mode w/networking, if need be):

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested
logs in an appropriate forum, not here.

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Thankyou. I'm in the process of getting help from APAC Global Consumer
Support, from the windows people. I have tried a few things they have
suggested to no avail, I am just awaiting their reply, but sounds like I have
something drastic going on with it all. I have given them the information you
suggested and am just waiting now, but I think I will be getting somebody to
come check it out. thanks all so much for your help, I'll keep you posted!!

You might need a system restore to the point prior to when AVG started going
bad on you. You can also try Start | Search and type

SFC /scannow

and you can also try installing Vista SP1, but I'd get rid of the other
problems first.
