Perflib - Event ID 2001

Hi,
I have a Win2k Server SP4 with Exchange 2000 Server on it.
Each second (!) I get in the apps event log the following error:

_______________________________
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Perflib
Event Category: None
Event ID: 2001
Date: 3/23/2004
Time: 9:00:37 AM
User: N/A
Computer: EXServer
Description:
The "Tcpip" service does not have a Performance subkey or the key could not
be opened. No performance counters will be collected for this service. The
Win32 error code is returned in the data.
______________________________________

This error appears 8 times per second, each time for a different service
(beyond TCPip I have it for ASP, ExIPC, MSSCNTRS, NTFSDRV, POP3Svc, SDIIS,
SDStore)

If I enter the registry and go to
HKey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\<servicename>\Performan
ce
where of course <servicename> stands for one of the eight services I get the
error for, I get the following error msgbox:
"Cannot open performance: error opening key"

Any workaround/solution for this issue?

thanks a lot

To disable Performance Counters; add the following to both "PerfDisk" and "PerfNet" in the registry

DWORD value: Disable Performance Counter
Value data:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\PerfDisk\Performanc
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\PerfNet\Performanc

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\PerfDisk\Performanc
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\PerfNet\Performanc

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfDisk\Performanc
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfNet\Performanc
