Network Printer Problem - XP/98

I have a 98SE machine connected to my XP machine. The 98 machine can see the
XP machine across the network, exchange files, etc, but I can't get it to
see the printer I have connected to the XP. I have set up the printer as
'shared' - is there anything else I need to do to make it visible to the 98
machine?

Thanks.

Are all the appropriate printer drivers installed on the machines ? I had
similar problems and found that installing the drivers seemed to make a
difference - I say "seemed" because despite all the good advice I was
changing all sorts at the same time , no logical structured approach. I've
since stuck a D-Link print server on the network and all OK.

Netbios names are limited in size on win9x so you can't use 15
characters otherwise it won't show up. Try using less characters. From
memory it's 12 or less maybe 11 or less.

Yes, the name was the problem. When I nominated the printer for sharing, XP
automatically stuck in the full printer name, which as you suggested was too
long for 98.

Thanks for the help!
