My Scanner still thinks its locked!!!!!

Thanks to both Steve Nielson & Glen Roberts who responded
to the below question I posed on 260404 however let me
confirm I have checked with Visioneer and my scanner the
4800 DOES NOT HAVE A LOCK. I know it is unusual but it
does not have one.

So now any answers to the below question PLEASE?

My Visioneer 4800 USB scanner keeps giving an error
message "Please verify you have unlocked the scanner"
I have checked the Visioneer website and according to
that the Visioneer 4800 USB Scanner DOES NOT HAVE A LOCK

Can anybody help me PLEASE?

ALL flatbed scanners have a mechanical stop to prevent the carriage from
moving during shipment. Release it.

While you were confirming that with Visioneer, did you ask them if
they could assist you with the error? It seems this should be
something their tech support is aware of and could resolve for you.

It certainly sounds like either the supplied software "thinks" your
model has a lock, or else something other than a mechanical lock is at
work with the scanner.

Roger,

We looked up your scanner at the Visioneer site and it says that there
IS a lock, they even have pictures of where it is located. Have you
looked at those URLs we posted for you? You say you have checked with
Visioneer; how did you check? Now maybe your particular scanner does not
have a lock (very unlikely; I have NEVER seen a scanner without a
shipping lock) but is more likely that you just can't find it, but if it
is truly the case that yours does not have a lock then I suggest you
call Visioneer tech support for assistance. Either that or go out and
buy a different scanner. I bought a halfway decent brand new Artec
scanner less than a year ago for less than $19.95 US at Staples.
