my new Canon printer will not respond to my scanner

I had a Canon s520 printer hooked up to my Dell pc, win xp home
edition, and it all worked great(usb)and it allso worked ok with my
visioneer one touch 8700 usb scanner.
Now, I installed a new printer, Canon i560s (usb)and the printer now
will not respond to the visioneer one touch 8700 usb scanner.I get an
error message from my OLD printer that says "PRINTER NOT RESPONDING"
(when i try to make a copy on my scanner)but the error message is from
the OLD printer, the Canon s520 printer which I have uninstalled. ANY
SUGGESTIONS??
I have gone to add/remove programs but my old printer does not show
there.

Did you install the WinXP drivers for the New Printer or did WinXP
provide them for you. You may have to install the
Software Package that came with the Printer first. Then hookup the
Printer as a step in the Installation of the Software.
