USB Printer and LPT1 Scanner

WinXP, SP1, Epson Stylus Color 740, connected to USB, Visioneer One Touch
7600 LPT1 (I know that that model scanner isn't WinXP certified but it does
work). Problem is that when the printer was hooked with a parallel cable to
the scanner (printer has both parallel and USB) the scanner would print to
it fine. But when the printer is connected only to the USB, the scanner
won't print to it. I'm getting a new printer that is only usb, and I
suspect it might also have a problem. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Why not just get a multi-function printer/scanner/copier. The Lexmark X75
model, and Lexmark's newer model are fully Windows XP compatible, and very
user friendly. I got my Lexmark X75 at Wal*Mart on sale for $62.50
(includes both BW and Color ink cartridges). It's sleek, quiet, fast, and
comes with a nice software bundle. I especially like the bundled FaxTools
program, which can also be used independently of the printer/scanner, and is
much better than the Windows XP native FAX Service. Since it's
multi-functional, it only uses one USB port, and the print quality is good.

You may have to have the scanner scan to a file and then print
the file. The scanner probably doesn't know anything about usb,
but you won't know for sure until you get the new printer. If the
scanner prints to a printer instead of the printer port, it may
work ok.
