Hello,

I have Windows XP Pro - SP 2. When I open "My Computer" under Windows
Explorer it loads very slow, shows search icon for a min or two and
then open up. Also I cannot go to any web page without typing http. I
checked the registry enteries they are fine.. I ran Windows defender
and Ad-aware several times from my login, from Administrator and in
Safe Mode. Nothing happen. Few days back I have the same problem and I
went through the topics and find my hp software has a problem.
Uninstalling that software worked at that time but the same problem
occur again in few days. I try to restore to that point but nothing
happened. Please help!!

Sal,

It sounds as though your system has lost track of the amount of free space
on your hard drive.
This occurs from time to time.
What I do to correct this is to run scandisk with both the extra boxes
checked.
This can only work in DOS and it will tell you to reboot your machine.
During the reboot, it will thoughly check 5 important things on your drive,
the last being the amount of free space.
Try this, and see if it corrects your situation.
If you don't know how, Right click your C:\ partition, then hit Properties,
Tools, Error Checking - Check Now, then check both boxes, say yes, and then
follow the instructions.
