Multimedia Audio Controller

Ok I just reinstalled windows xp home on my computer and my Multimedia
Controller has the yellow ? mark next to it. The only thing I can tell about
the computer is that its an eMachines and the sound its built into the
motherboard. I've searched all different places but I can't seem to fix the
problem.

Thanks for help in advance

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight all the sound devices,
Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device drivers
again automatically.

Did you also install the motherboard chipset drivers, followed by the device
drivers?

.... and apparently you didn't install the drivers.

Look for the driver CD that should have come with your system.

If there is no driver CD, identify the motherboard - this can involve
opening the case and reading the model number, or using a system audit
program such as Belarc - and the audio hardware, and download the drivers
based on the identity of the hardware.

When considering an install, you must always have the drivers on hand before
starting the process.

You may also find drivers at the eMachines support pages, if you have the
actual PC model number.
