Multimedia Audio Controller

i just recently reformated my computer with windows xp. and while i was
reformating i left my speakers plugged in. thus i lost my multimedia audio
controller, sm bus controller and my video controller (vga compatable).
luckily i was able to regain my sm bus controller and video controller
through some downloads but i still have a nice yellow ? on my multimedia
audio controller. i've searched everywhere for a download for this but i've
yet to find a successful one. anyone know where i can download this? or
know of anything that i can do? any help is appreciated

You will have to search your sound card manufacturers website for XP
compatable drivers for your specific model.

Do you have any documentation that came with your computer? - it should tell
you there.
Is your computer a Dell, H/P, Compaq etc- try their website and search for
your computer model.
Or you can open up the case and look for a label on the card.
If you have the integrated audio on your motherboard the drivers should have
been installed when you installed the sm bus & video controller from the
chipset drivers.
Post your computer brand & model and I may be able to find the correct
drivers for you.

i have pretty much the same problem as most everyone else, however i was NOT
reformatting my pc when the problem occured. i have tried everything i can
think of, short of paying for a tech to come out and fix it for me. i have an
eMachine, T3410. i have looked on their website, but i cannot find this
particular computer.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance,
Kayla

Dave,

If your post to Tony 4 years ago solves my problem as it did Tony's, I'll be
back to indicate your reply was helpful

I have an emachine T3410 OS XP and inadvertently must've deleted Multimedia
Audio Controller from the control panel - since then approx 4/7/08 I cannot
get any audio from my PC though my speaker system checks out as working.

So I'm going to try what you had suggested:

"You will have to sign up to download the driver (free sign up)

http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=123437 "

and hope it works. :)

Maybe this is a dead subject because others have also written for help in
2008 but no one is replying.

Would suggest that you identify the motherboard, then go to the
manufacturer's site and download the core chipset and audio drivers, and
then install them. That should resolve the problem, with greater
reliability than driverguide.

You can use a system audit program like Belarc,
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
or you can open the case and look at the identifiers silk-screened on the
motherboard. this is usually quite visible.

When you get these drivers, burn them to CD and keep them with your XP
install CD.

Patrick, Thank you so much for this information. I am familiar with Belarc
and think even though I am a computer nitwit, I think I will be able to
follow your instructions.

Again, thank you for replying. :)

Patrick, I thought my husband would have some idea what a core chipset is
and audio drivers but he says he does not. He also said he could not tell if
you meant to go the the mfgr's site of the motherboard or my PC (emachine).
So I'm still stuck. :(
