Ethernet Controller corrupt

I wiped clean Windows XP today but now my Ethernet Controller and Multimedia
Audio Controller don't work.

My speakers don't play any audio except for the random computer beeping.
I know my speakers DO work though, because the song plays while I test the
audio under the Boot Startup menu (boot to partition)

I think I need to install new devices?

Yes. Yes you do.

They are called "hardware drivers" or "device drivers". Only you know what
hardware you have - through your receipt, opening the PC, the PC
manufacturer's web site, etc.

where would I find the downloads?

As I said - only you will know what hardware you have.
At that point - you visit the web sites for said manufacturer(s).

For example, let's say you
have an NVidia chipset video card or ATI video card, perhaps a Creative
Labs sound card or C-Media chipset sound card...

NVidia Video Card Drivers
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

ATI Video Card Drivers
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

Creative Labs Sound Device
http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/

C-Media Sound Device
http://www.cmedia.com.tw/?q=en/driver

If it is a "vendor" computer (Dell, HP, IBM, Gateway, etc..) - simply
visit the vendor's page and go to the support/downloads for the
particular model and download all hardware drivers.

THis is a normal result from not first installing the needed drivers. XP
doesn't have them.

You need to install drivers, not devices.

Start with the CD that came with your motherboard and install the core
chipset drivers from there - do this one FIRST. *Then* install specific
device drivers; I usually start with the network driver as that lets me get
online to find other drivers I didn't have on hand.

For next time, put together all the drivers on a CD. Put it with your XP
CD.

If you're unsure of the motherboard model, check the system manuals, or open
the case and look for the model number and manufacturer logo screened on it.
Then go to the manufacturer's site and find the downloads.

If the system is a Dell, look on the bottom or back for the Service Tag
number. Use that at the Dell Support site and you'll get access to all the
drivers. If it's an HP etc, you'll have to dig a little more based on
precise model information on the PC.
